THE GARAGE RENTAL AGRREEMENT

Room Rental Fee

  • Rental of The Garage includes the space only. As the renter, you are responsible for supplying furnishings, decor, florals, linens, food & beverage, etc. Included in the hourly rental fee is: the space, an employee of The Garage on premises for the duration of your event, a $25 cleaning & dumpster fee, and 6% state sales tax. Rental fees are subject to change due to time of year, hours of the event, or at the discretion of The Garage. Additional clean up or supply fees may be required per event.

Decor & Furnishings

  • The rental fee includes the space only. Various chairs and tables can be provided by The Garage, but must be requested in advance in order to be in place prior to your arrival.

  • You are responsible for any additional furniture and welcome to decorate The Garage for any event, however all decor must be approved by The Garage prior to the event. The Garage is not responsible for setting up or cleaning up approved decor.The use of glue, staples, and command strips is prohibited on any wall surface. Any large installations must be approved prior to the event. Renters are subject to added fees if additional time is needed for set up or breakdown. In additional to removing all personal decor & vendor rentals, you are also responsible for basic clean up i.e. trash removal following the event and clean up of any major spills/accidents.

Event Parking

  • As a small event space in a resort city, parking is not guaranteed for every event. There are limited spaces available in front of The Garage, dependent on the day and time of your event. Public parking can be found at the ViBe District lot located on 18th Street behind Wareings Gym, next to the Old Beach Art & Deco Market. Additional parking is available at paid city meters or in paid city lots. The Garage is not responsible for damage, theft or towing of vehicles during events.

Alcohol

  • A Virginia ABC banquet license is required if you plan to have alcohol on The Garage premises and must be displayed and visible for the duration of your event. The Garage is not responsible for attaining the banquet license.

  • You may use the following link to apply for a Virginia banquet license: https://www.abc.virginia.gov/licenses/val/definitions/banquet Average ABC processing time is 7-10 days. Please time your application accordingly. Serving alcohol without being properly licensed is a serious offense. If the banquet license is not presented prior to the start of the event, The Garage reserves the right to deny or remove all alcohol from the premises and cancel the event, and the renter will forfeit all payments made.

Audio Visual

  • Arrangements for audio/visual requirements must be made & tested prior to the event. Power needs must be discussed ahead of time and the renter is responsible for making arrangements if a generator is necessary. The Garage is not liable for any music or video that does not function properly. In order to be respectful of our neighbors surrounding The Garage, we ask that all music ends no later than 10pm & that the decibel levels does not exceed 75 decibels.

Photography & Advertising

  • Unless notified in advance that you do not want your event documented and shared, The Garage may photograph the room, decor and event or re-share any photographs/video posted by attendees or vendors of the event in print, electronic, and social media form.

Liability

  • As the renter, you agree that The Garage and its employees shall not be liable for 1. any damage, loss, delay or expense incurred by you, your guests or any other person connected with the event, except for death or personal injury resulting from proven negligence by The Garage or its employees. And 2. damage, theft or loss of any property, goods, articles, possessions, objects or similar things used, kept or left at The Garage. As the renter, you are responsible for any loss or damage to The Garage, which is attributed by you, your guests or additional vendors. It is strongly suggested that you arrange your own personal accident & event insurance.
